5 Day Valley of Roses Trek Itinerary

Day 01 : Marrakesh

Reception at the Menara airport’s and Transfer to hotel or riad.

Day 02 : Marrakech | Ouarzazate | Valley of roses « Ait Ihia »

Transfer by road via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters) to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Moroccan Hollywood,” passing through spectacular landscapes and the ever-changing colors of the High Atlas Mountains. We then continue toward the Valley of Roses, arriving at the village of Ait Ihia (1,400 meters), our meeting point with the muleteers and the official starting point of our trek.
After loading the luggage onto the mules, we begin our hike, walking through this large traditional village and across a vast plateau in the direction of the M’Goun Massif. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay in a camp at Timkkit (1,500 meters).

Day 03 : Timkkit 1500 m | Akka n’asskar | Timassinine 1800 m

After a half-hour walk on flat terrain, we begin our ascent to the Tifidy Pass at 1,823 meters. From the pass, we enjoy a gentle descent to Akka-n-Aasskar, where we pause for lunch by the water, in the refreshing shade of oleander trees.
In the afternoon, the trail leads us through a semi-arid landscape, passing a few small cultivated gardens scattered along the way. The scenery transitions from lush riverbanks to a more desert-like environment, offering a striking contrast.
We end the day at Timassinine Camp (1,800 meters), where dinner and an overnight stay await.

Day 04 : Timassinine 1800 m | Gorges Agouti | Lhout 1700 m

We begin the day by crossing the Djebel Anchouch, followed by a descent into the small valley of Ait Hamd, passing through the picturesque Berber villages of Imzil and Rbat. We stop for lunch at the entrance of the scenic Agouti Gorges, a perfect place to rest before continuing along the river.
In the afternoon, we follow the riverbank trail through the gorge (hiking sandals recommended for the water crossing) toward the charming villages of Agouti and Lhout, known for their traditional architecture and the impressive kasbah in Lhout.
The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a camp near Lhout village (1,700 meters).

Day 05 : Lhout 1700 m | Boutaghrar 1500 m

We continue our hike through the lush gardens and traditional villages of the Ait Hamd Valley, making our way toward the M’Goun River. For this section, hiking sandals are essential, as we may need to walk through shallow water.
Following the river along a scenic trail, we eventually reach the large and vibrant village of Boutarar, where we stop for lunch and rest.
The afternoon is optional: you can relax at the lodge or take a short hike up a nearby hillside to enjoy panoramic views of Boutarar and the M’Goun Valley.
Dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable local lodge.

Day 06 : Boutarar 1500 m | Hdida | Taberkachte 1400 m

We continue our journey along the M’Goun Valley, where we often encounter local villagers working in their fields a wonderful opportunity to observe traditional Berber farming practices. Along the way, we pass through several picturesque villages known for their distinctive mud-brick architecture and timeless charm.
We stop for lunch in the village of Hdida, nestled in the heart of the valley. In the afternoon, we follow scenic irrigation canals, walking between lush gardens and cultivated terraces on our way to the village of Tabarkachte.
Dinner and overnight stay in a local guesthouse, offering a warm and authentic Berber experience.

Day 07 : Tabarkachte | Ouarzazate | Talwat | Marrakech: 320 km

We depart from the Valley of Roses and travel toward Ait Ben Haddou via Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert and Morocco’s “Hollywood” for its famous film studios. After a short visit or photo stop, we continue our journey through the stunning Ounila Valley, a scenic route dotted with authentic Berber villages and dramatic red rock landscapes.
We stop for lunch in the village of Telouet, followed by a visit to the historic Kasbah of the Glaoui, once the residence of the powerful Glaoui family and a remarkable example of traditional Moroccan architecture.
Our route then takes us over the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), offering panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains, before descending into the plains of Marrakech.
Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Overnight stay in a charming riad or comfortable hotel.

Day 8 : Hotel | Airport

Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
