Mgoun Ascent and High Atlas Hiking Itinerary
Day 01 : Marrakesh
Reception at the Menara airport’s and Transfer to hotel or riad.
Day 02 : Marrakech | Demnate | Megdaz | Ait Ali N’Itto
We begin with a scenic road transfer to Demnate, where we stop to explore the impressive natural limestone bridge of Imi n’Ifri. From there, we continue into the beautiful Tassaout Valley, making our way to the remarkable village of Megdaz, often considered one of the most picturesque and authentic villages in the High Atlas Mountains. After our visit, we return to the village of Ait Ali N’Itto for an overnight stay in a local lodge.
Day 03 : Ait Ali n’Itto | Tassggaywalte (6 Hours Walk)
We continue our trek through the scenic Tassaout Valley, passing through several traditional Berber villages such as Ait Hamza, Ichbaken, and Imi n’Ikess. Our day ends in the peaceful village of Tasgaiwalte, where we enjoy dinner and spend the night at a riverside campsite.
Day 04 : Tassggaywalte – Tarkddite (6 Hours Walk)
We ascend the stunning Assderme Pass at 3,100 meters, offering breathtaking views overlooking the Tassaout Valley. After crossing a high plateau, we arrive at the village of Tarkddite. Dinner and overnight are spent at a camp situated at 2,900 meters altitude.
Day 05 : Tarkddite | Mgoun Ascent | Izaben 2600 m (8 to 9 Hours Walk)
We depart early in the morning to climb Mount M’Goun, one of Morocco’s most iconic peaks at 4,071 meters. From the summit, enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the Aït Bouguemez Valley. After the ascent, we descend to our camp situated at 2,600 meters for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06 : Izaben – Oulilimte – Aflafal Sources (2200 m) (5 to 6 Hours Walk)
We hike through the scenic Oulilimte Valley, where we may encounter nomadic communities living in traditional caves. After stopping for lunch, we continue our trek to reach the bivouac near the Aflafal springs at 2,200 meters. Dinner and overnight are spent at the camp.
Day 07 : Aflafal – Tichki 2033 m (6 Hours Walk)
Enjoy a scenic walk through the Ouzighemte Valley, passing vibrant cultivated fields and traditional Berber villages. We set up camp for the night at Wawchki Village, situated at 2,033 meters. Dinner and overnight are at the camp.
Day 8 : Tichki – Izoughar 2600 m (7 Hours Walk)
We begin a rewarding ascent of 1,510 meters to reach the Igroulne Pass at 3,500 meters, crossing the impressive Wawgolzate Mountain. After summiting, we descend to the Izoughar Plateau, where we set up camp at 2,600 meters. Dinner and overnight are spent at the bivouac.
Day 9 : Izoughar | Zaouite Lamzi 2250 m ( 5 Hours Walk)
We cross the Izoughar Plateau, known as the traditional meeting place between the nomads of Aït Bouguemez and Aït Atta. We then arrive at the village of Zaouit, where we stop for lunch. The afternoon is free for relaxation or exploration. Dinner and overnight stay are at a comfortable lodge.
Day 10 : Zaouit Lamzi | Ait Ziri 1800 m (6 Hours Walk)
Enjoy a beautiful walk through lush gardens as we cross the Aït Bouguemez Valley, traveling from village to village until we reach Aït Ziri, the final stop of our stage. Dinner and overnight accommodation are at Dar Afra.
Day 11 : Ait Ziri
Enjoy a free day to relax in our peaceful village and soak in the tranquil surroundings. For those interested, consider a rewarding walk up to Sidi Chita Summit, offering panoramic views of the stunning Aït Bouguemez Valley. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Dar Afra.
Day 12 : Ait Bougumez | Ouzoud | Marrakech : 250 km
We transfer via Azilal to the stunning Ouzoud Cascades, Morocco’s famous waterfalls, where we stop for lunch and enjoy the natural beauty. Afterwards, we continue onward to Marrakech. Overnight stay at a hotel or traditional riad.
Day 13 : Marrakech
Spend a full day exploring the vibrant city of Marrakech. Wander through the bustling medina, or simply relax at your accommodation and enjoy a rejuvenating traditional Hammam experience. Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel or charming riad.
Day 14 : Hotel | Airport
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
