4 Days Toubkal Mountain Hiking Itinerary
Day 01 : Marrakesh | Aguerssiwal | Matat Pass (2200 m) | Azib Tamssoult (2600 m)
We drive from Marrakech towards the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, arriving at the village of Aguerssiwal (1,500 m) where we meet our trekking team, including cooks and muleteers. From here, our Toubkal trek begins.
We ascend along a mule track to the Matat Pass (2,200 m), then descend into the scenic Azzedine Valley for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue climbing through fragrant juniper forests to reach Azib Tamssoult at 2,600 meters.
Overnight stay in the mountain refuge.
Trekking time: Approximately 5 hours.
Day 02 : Azib Tamssoult (2600 m) | Aguezem pass (3500 m) | Toubkal refuge ( 3200 m)
An early wake-up for breakfast is followed by a gradual climb along a zigzagging path to the Aguelzim Pass at 3,500 meters. From the pass, enjoy dramatic panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and surrounding valleys. After a picnic lunch, we cross a bridge onto the main trail, descending to the mountain refuge at 3,200 meters.
Overnight stay in the refuge.
Trekking time: Approximately 8 hours.
Day 03 : Toubkal Refuge (3200 m) | Toubkal peak (4170 m) | Toubkal Refuge | Aremd village (2000 m):
An early wake-up for breakfast, followed by a gradual climb to the Toubkal Pass at 4,000 meters. From there, we ascend the ridge to the summit of Toubkal (4,170 m), the highest peak in North Africa. At the summit, we enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and the southern landscape. After a short rest and snack at the top, we descend along the same route to the refuge for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue walking down to Aremd village.
Trekking time: Approximately 9 hours.
Day 04 : Aremd village | Imlil village | Marrakesh.
After enjoying breakfast at 9:00 AM, we take a scenic 1-hour walk through walnut tree groves to reach the charming Imlil Village, where our transport awaits. From there, we depart the Atlas Mountains and embark on a 1.5-hour drive back to Marrakesh. The day concludes with an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel or traditional riad in Marrakesh.
