Looking for a unique trekking experience in Morocco? Discover the untouched beauty of Djebel Saghro, a stunning volcanic mountain range in southern Morocco, perfect for hiking from October to May. Located just south of the High Atlas, Saghro forms the final mountain barrier before the Draa Valley and the sweeping deserts filled with oases and dunes.

Although not as high as the Atlas Mountains (its highest peak reaches 2,712 meters), Djebel Saghro offers dramatic landscapes, think lunar plateaus, sharp volcanic peaks, deep canyons, and breathtaking views in every direction. This peaceful and lesser-known destination is ideal for hikers seeking adventure away from the crowds.

What makes Saghro truly special is its cultural richness. The region is home to the Ait Atta tribe, known for their traditional Bedouin tents, nomadic lifestyle, and herds of goats. Witness their seasonal transhumance and discover the living traditions of Berber life in the Moroccan mountains.
Whether you’re an avid trekker or a cultural explorer, Djebel Saghro promises an unforgettable hiking experience in Morocco’s wild south.
