Mount Toubkal Trekking Itinerary
Day 01 : Marrakesh
Upon your arrival at Marrakech Airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide and transferred to your riad or hotel for an overnight stay. If you arrive early, you’ll have the opportunity to visit some of Marrakech’s iconic monuments, explore the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, and stroll through the lively souks of the Medina.
Day 02 : Marrakesh | Oukaimden | Oussartek Valley
Departure from Marrakech by minibus toward the Oukaimden ski resort, where the trek begins. After meeting our mules and muleteers, we begin a 4-hour trek, ascending to the Tizi-n-Imnane Pass at 2,650 meters. From the pass, enjoy breathtaking views of Jbel Toubkal and the surrounding mountains and valleys. We then descend into the Oussartek Valley, known for its picturesque Berber villages and terraced fields. Overnight stay in a camp at 2,200 meters altitude.

Day 03 : Oussartek Valley | Aguerssiwal | Matat
After breakfast, we leave our campsite and begin our trek toward the Imnane Valley. This full-day walk takes us through a variety of fascinating landscapes, rich in color and contrast. Along the way, you’ll discover the lush Imnane Valley, pass through traditional Berber villages, and witness the daily life and warm hospitality of the local people.
We stop for a lunch break just after the village of Aguerssiwal. In the afternoon, we continue our gentle ascent to Matat village, where we set up camp for the night at 2,000 meters altitude.
Trekking time: Approximately 5 hours.
Day 04 : Matat | Azzaden Valley | Tamsoult
The trail to the pass is gentle, allowing us to ascend at a relaxed pace while quietly enjoying the stunning views all around. We then descend into the scenic Azzaden Valley, passing through several traditional Berber villages, each built from the distinctive red earth that characterizes the region.
As we continue walking up the valley, the landscape and vegetation shift dramatically. We stop for a lunch break under the shade of walnut trees in the village of Tizi Oussem. In the afternoon, we gradually continue toward the high-altitude sheepfolds of Tamsoult. Our campsite is set beside a peaceful mountain stream at 2,200 meters.
Trekking time: Approximately 6 hours.
Day 05 : Tamsoult | Toubkal Camp Base
Today is a long and rewarding trekking day. We start with an early breakfast before beginning our ascent to the Tizi-n’Ougalzim Pass at 3,500 meters. The climb is steady and moderately challenging, but the breathtaking panoramic views from the top make the effort worthwhile. From the pass, you’ll enjoy sweeping vistas of the surrounding High Atlas Mountains and the valleys stretching far into the distance.
We stop for a picnic lunch along the way, then begin our descent to the Toubkal Base Camp, located at 3,200 meters, where we spend the night.

Day 06 : The Ascent of Djebel Toubkal
The ascent of Mount Toubkal begins very early in the morning, with a 4:00 AM wake-up call to start climbing by 5:00 AM. The trail to the summit is steep and consists mostly of boulders and scree, creating a challenging but rewarding route. After a steady climb, the gradient eases and a final ridge leads us to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 meters.
We ascend at a relaxed pace, taking time to soak in the stunning surroundings. From the summit, we’re rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views over the High Atlas Mountains and the valleys stretching far below.
For the descent, we can either retrace our steps or take an alternate route back to Toubkal Base Camp, where we spend the night.

Day 07 : Toubkal | Imlil | Marrakech
We begin our final day with a half-day descent into the Imlil Valley. After leaving our campsite, we trek down to the village of Imlil, where our High Atlas adventure comes to an end.
Following lunch in Imlil, we drive along scenic mountain roads back to Marrakech, taking in the last glimpses of the stunning landscapes of Toubkal National Park. Upon arrival, we settle into a traditional riad for our final overnight stay in the city.

Day 8 : Hotel | Airport
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
