Siroua Massif Hiking Itinerary
Day 01 : Ouarzazate
Day 02 : Ouarzazate | Ait Benhaddou | Ouarzazate
After a leisurely breakfast, we embark on a cultural day tour to explore the highlights of Ouarzazate and its surrounding areas. Our first stop is the Kasbah of Taourirt, a striking example of traditional mud-brick architecture. We then visit one of the city’s renowned film studios, where many international movies have been filmed.
Next, a short drive brings us to the iconic fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous as the backdrop for films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, this ancient ksar offers a glimpse into Morocco’s rich architectural and cinematic heritage.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant before we return to our hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 03 : Ouarzazate | Taznakhte | Tislit Gorges
We depart early from Ouarzazate and head toward the town of Taznakht, following a scenic route through stunning landscapes. Along the way, enjoy colorful panoramas and traditional Berber villages nestled between Ouarzazate and Taznakht.
In the village of Skoumet, we meet our muleteers and their mules, followed by a relaxing picnic lunch. Afterward, we begin our trek with a 3-hour walk, descending into the picturesque Tislit Valley. Overnight stay in a camp under the stars.
Day 04 : Gorges of Tislit | Valley of Tizgui
After breakfast, we leave the campsite and begin the day with a visit to the spectacular Gorges of Tislit. We traverse lunar-like landscapes before reaching the scenic Tizgui Valley. The trek continues through a series of traditional Berber villages and terraced fields, offering a glimpse into rural mountain life.
We stop for a picnic lunch beneath the shade of walnut trees in the valley. In the afternoon, we visit a 17th-century fortified granary a remarkable example of Berber heritage and architecture. We then continue our walk uphill to reach Tizgui village. Overnight stay in a camp just beyond the village.
Day 05 : Tizgui villages | Tisswitine
We leave our campsite at Tizgui and begin our hike toward the Tisswitine pastures. This half-day walk takes us through a striking lunar landscape, passing several traditional sheepfolds used by nomadic families during the summer months.
We arrive at our campsite around 2:00 PM, where lunch is served. The afternoon is free to rest and enjoy the surrounding scenery. Our campsite is located at the foot of Jebel Siroua, standing at 2,600 meters above sea level.
Day 06 : Jebel Siroua Ascent (3 305 m) | The Azib of Iriri
We begin the day with an early breakfast before starting our ascent to the summit of Jebel Siroua. The trail is not steep, allowing for a steady and relaxed pace as we take in the breathtaking scenery around us.
Upon reaching the summit, we are rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding High Atlas Mountains and valleys stretching as far as the eye can see. A picnic lunch is enjoyed along the descent.
We make our way down to the base camp near the Azib of Iriri, where we spend the night.
Day 07 : Azib of Iriri | Aziwane Pastures
We leave our camp and set off for a rewarding day of trekking through breathtaking mountain scenery. The route takes us over the Azwou Pass at 2,450 meters, followed by a descent through expansive grazing lands and lush green pastures.
In the afternoon, we explore the remarkable site of Aziwane, known for its dramatic volcanic rock formations and striking natural beauty. Afterward, we return to the campsite. Dinner and overnight stay under tents.
Day 8 : Aziwane | Amassine | Marrakesh
We set off for a half-day walk, trekking downhill until we reach the village of Amssine, marking the end of our journey on foot. After lunch, we begin our direct transfer back to Marrakech.
Traveling from the serene oases of southern Morocco to the majestic High Atlas Mountains, we pass through breathtaking landscapes and cross the famous Tizi-n-Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. We arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.
Day 9 : Free Day at Marrakech
Spend the day exploring Marrakech’s vibrant medina and bustling souks at your own pace. Discover some of the city’s most captivating landmarks, including the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs—dating impressively back to the 16th century—the Dar Si Said Museum, and the historic Madrassa Ben Youssef.
In the afternoon, wander through the maze-like souks, bartering for handmade crafts and unique souvenirs. Alternatively, you might choose to take a leisurely calèche (horse-drawn carriage) ride to the tranquil Majorelle Gardens, or relax and unwind with a traditional Moroccan hammam experience.
Day 8 : Hotel | Airport
Depending on your flight schedule, your guide will accompany you to the airport and assist with check-in and any necessary formalities. As you board your flight, depart Morocco with unforgettable memories and the lasting warmth of its people and landscapes. Wishing you a safe and pleasant journey home!
